Class FS

Party Food!

Class FS have had a very busy morning taste testing food for our leavers’ party! It was hard work but we managed to evaluate all the products on offer and have made an excellent selection for our buffet menu!

Awesome Athletics!

Team spirit wins through! Class FS enjoyed an afternoon of athletics at Dorothy Hyman on Thursday 15th June. Our team of 26 children competed in a range of events from javelin to the 600 metres. We finished 5th out of the 9 schools on the day but displayed determination, team spirit and sportsmanship. Well done Year 6!

Working down the pit!

Class FS were very pleased to welcome our school handyman Mr Niland to talk to us about his 32 years mining and share with us his amazing mining artwork. We asked lots of fantastic questions and discovered more about what the first-hand experience of mining was like. What a fantastic end to our topic. Thank you Mr Niland for such an informative presentation!

Let’s all work together

Amazing team-work, imagination, determination and creativity from Class FS today who designed, sketched and painted a giant canvas for our library area. Mrs Steadman was very impressed with your ideas and creative talent.

Pancake Day!

To mark the start of Lent Class FS enjoyed a practical investigation solving the ratios of ingredients needed for our recipe and weighing them out accurately.

Back in class we all produced a fantastic set of instructions how to recreate our perfect pancake recipe.

Going underground!

On Wednesday 8th February Class FS visited the National Coal Mining Museum as part of our local history topic about coal mining in our area. We were very excited to see all of the equipment we had been learning about in class and were even brave enough to travel 180m underground on the ‘working life as a miner’ tour. We had a fantastic day and this first-hand experience has given us some excellent ideas for our writing next half term.

Let’s Investigate!

Class FS have been posing their own questions to collect data about our favourite things. We then used this data in a range of graphs and charts. Mrs Steadman was really impressed with the maths we used and our protractor skills to create pie charts.

Year 6 Bootcamp!

To improve our fitness and boost our brainpower Class FS have been doing some H.I.I.T (high intensity interval training) workouts. Each week we can sprint faster, jump higher and plank longer – Mrs Steadman can barely keep up!
