Spring 1

This term Class Donaldson have explored space.

As Mathematicians, children have explored the composition of numbers 6, 7 and 8 using aliens and dice frames. The children were able to then create a number sentence from the visual representation.

In Life-skills, children worked as a team to build a large den that could fit everyone from class Donaldson inside. The children developed their listening, communication and social skills in order to achieve this outcome.

In Understanding the world, children learnt about Lunar New Year. They were able to create chinese lanturns using the skills developed in Design and Technology, by weaving paper for the desired look. Class Donaldson tried some chinese food such as rice, spring rolls and prawn crackers. They read facts and stories about how Chinese New Year is celebrated and the animal race.

In Science, children were able to name all the planets in our Solar System. We then sorted the planets according to their properties rock, gas and ice.

Take a look at our learning journey from Spring 1.
