At Brierley CE (VC) Primary School we hope that all pupils leave this primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
BRIERLEY CE (VC) PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORT OBJECTIVE
The government is currently phasing the Sport's Premium model out to introduce a brand-new, centralized PE and School Sport Partnerships Network.
To give schools breathing room during this major shift, the Department for Education has provided us with a one-off transitional funding payment for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. Across England, this averages out to around £8,000 per school. We will use this funding to support our current sports programs and ensure a smooth, disruption-free transition for your children.
What is our philosophy?
We believe that physical education isn't just about winning trophies (though we do love celebrating our teams!). It is about ensuring every single child finds a physical activity they genuinely love. Whether your child is an aspiring football star, an enthusiastic dancer, or someone who simply loves a fun game of tag at lunchtime, this transition funding is used to support them.
Looking to the Future
From April 2027, the new national Partnerships Network will become fully active. This network will work directly with our school to offer targeted support, strengthen community sports club pathways, and improve access to high-quality physical activities for all pupils.
