Autumn 1

Mathematicians, the children will begin the Autumn term by studying decimal fractions.

They will begin by identifying and counting in tenths and look at different ways of writing tenths in different ways. The children will use this knowledge to calculate with decimal numbers within and across one whole and using column addition and subtraction. 

Once the children have secured their knowledge of counting, adding and subtracting in tenths they will apply and develope this to knowledge to describe, represent, write and count decimal numbers with hundredths and read, write, order and compare numbers with up to 3 decimal places.
